It’s no secret that RIM is struggling with its BlackBerry brand. With competition from mobile devices like the iPhone and Android powered phones, it’s easy to see why the brand is on shaky ground. However, the company hopes to turn this all around with their new operating system, BlackBerry 10. Recently, Rim gave app developers access to the operating system so they could begin work on creating apps for the new system. The first glimpse of some of these new apps has been revealed.
One app developer, Gameloft, is bringing two games to the App World for BlackBerry 10. One of these is the game, Nova 3, as it follows the release of the movie version. Another game they are developing is one known as Shark Dash which promises some excitement for users.
Another app that will be one of the first released specifically for BlackBerry 10 is Endomondo. This is a fitness app. It also combines a social element with it that allows for some healthy competition between friends.
The app, 360 Panorama, which is already out for Android and Apple, is also going to be uploaded into the App World. This app permits users to take panoramic photos with their Blackberry phone. In order to make this technology work, BlackBerry has promised to make sure devices have the proper cameras, sensors and graphics needed. Again, this is another example of how BlackBerry is working hard to compete with Apple and Android by closing the gap.
Mippin is another fun app that will be one of the first to work with BlackBerry10. This particular app isn’t really an app but it being touted as an app factory. Mippin allows anyone to start creating an app. This particular app can work on any operating system which explains its inclusion.
