Did you know that blog commenting can even harm your position in Google? Well you have read it right. Blog commenting can harm your blog in many ways. Here are a few ways blog commenting can harm your blog SERPS and even reputation.
[stextbox id="info"]1. Over Commentating[/stextbox]
If you post too many comments on other blogs, your blog may be punished by Google. I have seen several cases of this and over-commentating can harm your blog! For example, Google algorithms can differentiate easily between natural links and comment links. So accordingly if your comment links increase, your blog will be punished and you can expect your ranks to go down.
[stextbox id="info"]2. New Blog[/stextbox]
If you have just started a new blog and immediately you start commenting on too many other blogs, Google will find it easily and it may even punish your blog. So after you have started a blog, make sure you wait for at least some days before starting to build links. You can start from the first day as well, but comment in a limit. Don’t post too many comments in one day or on a single website. Your rank will go down.
[stextbox id="info"]3. Building Just Dofollow Links[/stextbox]
If you build only dofollow links by commenting on only dofollow blogs, you may face a rank drop. Try being natural and also comment on nofollow blogs. This makes your blog backlinks appear natural and you may get saved by sharp eyes of Google. So whenever you comment on a dofollow blog, also comment on a nofollow blog. Maintain a ratio. Or you can even randomly post on blogs, just make sure that you don’t forget that nofollow is important as well.
[stextbox id="info"]4. Don’t comment on auto-approval blogs[/stextbox]
Spammers use auto-approval blogs for commentating. You must not! Why? Usually there are thousands of links from an auto-approved blog. So you will hardly get any link juice plus Google know these auto-approved sites very well and chances are that your site may get punished. Don’t let high PR auto approval blogs make you greedy. Believe me, these links won’t help you in any way, but will help Google ban you!
These are a few ways blog commentating can harm your blog and your search engine ranking. Make sure you avoid the above things and keep your blog safe. I don’t say quit blog commenting, but stay in limit and comment randomly or equally on all sites without concentrating on just dofollow sites.

Nice post Saksham ! Over commenting and spamming will certainly drop our blogs’ position Google .
This is quite informative post for me. I’ll take care in future when commenting on various blogs.
very nice post, Saksham. You are doing a great job.
I agree with your points. Any kind of link building should be natural.
Thanks Saksham for posting a great post
Yes over doing blog commenting will def hurt you. It is easier to get caught when someone starts getting tons and tons of links pointing to them if you are a new blog and have no reputation.
For instance lets say you are someone like quicksprout.com.
Every time Niel writes an article he gets about 100 track backs very quickly. Since Quicksprout has a very reputation google understands that his stuff goes viral and ranks it higher.
So build reputation first then you can build your links!
Blog commenting can only hurt you if you comment a lot and by that I mean more than a human can really handle, if you have to many of them Google may see it as blackhat. Otherwise natural blog commenting is one of the best things you can do. You will earn better ranks and you will get some extra traffic from those links.
I would just like to comment on this blog that, well – thanks for the post about making sure you don’t comment too much. But seriously, I agree with Christian – you would have to spend all day commenting to get penalized. I do agree that new sites that build too many links early on are penalized, but your rank will come back over time.
Nice Post Saksham. I Think Going Viral in Commenting can be really very harmfull for a new Blog.
